When you create an account, we collect:

- Hashed password — we never store your password in plain text.
1.2 Information We Do NOT Collect
ShieldWave is built with a strict zero-logging philosophy. We do not collect, log, or store:
- Your browsing history or the content of your internet traffic
- DNS queries
- IP addresses assigned to you when connected to our VPN
- Session timestamps (connection or disconnection times)
- Bandwidth usage per session
- Destination IP addresses or domains you visit
- Your physical location or GPS data
1.3 Device Information
We collect minimal device metadata solely for the purpose of managing device limits per subscription plan:
- Device identifier — a randomly generated ID stored locally on your device, used to enforce per-user device limits.
- Platform type (iOS or Android) — used for compatibility purposes only.
1.4 Purchase Information
If you purchase a subscription, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive or store your credit card number, billing address, or any financial information. We only receive a confirmation of your subscription status from the platform.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the VPN service
- Authenticate your account
- Manage subscription status and device limits
- Send essential service notifications (e.g., security alerts, account verification)
- Improve the reliability and performance of our Service
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:
- Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or governmental request. However, because we do not log browsing activity, we have no relevant data to provide.
- Service providers: We use Cloudflare for infrastructure. Cloudflare processes network traffic as a data processor under our direction but does not have access to your decrypted traffic.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your account data is stored in encrypted databases. VPN traffic is processed in real-time through our servers and is never written to disk. We employ industry-standard security measures including:
- TLS 1.3 encryption for all connections
- Encrypted data storage with access controls
- Regular security audits and updates
- Automatic token rotation for authentication
5. Data Retention
Account information is retained for the duration of your account. Upon account deletion, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days. Because we do not log VPN usage, there is no usage data to retain or delete.

- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of any inaccurate data
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data
